Gift Card Genie 2017.04.11

Gift Card Genie (GCG) facilitates the process of checking remaining balances on gift cards from supported merchants in real time. This is achieved through two methods. An automated search is conducted for merchants with a web-based lookup that does not require a ReCAPTCHA. In cases where a ReCAPTCHA is present, users are redirected to the lookup site with the card number pre-filled in memory - prompting them to paste it and complete the CAPTCHA if necessary. For unsupported merchants, users can manually track balances by updating them after each card use.

  New merchants are incorporated based on user demand. Requests for specific additions are considered, keeping popular choices in mind. However, if a well-known merchant, like Macy's, is not listed, it is likely due to the absence of a compatible web interface.
